The entrance to the departures lounge at Edinburgh Airport is located right next to the airport bus stop. You'll find check-in desks for all airlines flying from Edinburgh on the ground floor, along with baggage drop points if you've already checked in online. Security and boarding gates are found on the first floor, via the escalators.

British Airways passengers can check in the day before using the airline's Twilight Check-in service, available Monday to Friday 16:00 – 20:00 and Saturday to Sunday 16:00 – 18:00, for all flights departing up until 09:00 the next day.

When should I check in at Edinburgh Airport?

Check in opens for most domestic and short-haul flights two hours before departure, although EasyJet, Ryanair and Flybe all open 2.5 hours ahead of departure at Edinburgh. For international and long-haul flights, it's recommended that you check in three hours before flight departure time. Check with your airline for exact times before you travel to the airport.

Edinburgh Airport has one terminal and is easy to navigate. Domestic and international arrivals will be directed to the ground floor of the terminal building. To hire a car to get around Edinburgh, there is a car rental centre at the airport, located south of the arrivals exit – follow the covered walkway round to the right.

Edinburgh Airport pick up and drop off

If you're meeting someone off their flight to Edinburgh, head to the Pick Up Zone on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park. You can wait here for up to two hours and prices range from £3.90 for 15 minutes, to £11.50 for 1 to 2 hours. Alternatively, you can use the Long Stay car park for free pick up and drop off, if you stay for under ten minutes.
Going on holiday? Pre-book a spot in the Long Stay car park and leave your car at the airport, ready for your return. A free two-minute shuttle runs to and from the airport.

How do I get to and from Edinburgh Airport?

By car: Edinburgh Airport is located in the suburb of Ingliston, 12km from the city centre. The airport is easily accessible from the M8 and M9 motorways, off the A8 road between Glasgow and Edinburgh. If you're travelling from further away, the satnav postcode for Edinburgh Airport is EH12 9DN.

By bus: The Airlink 100 bus runs every 10 minutes between the city centre and Edinburgh airport and takes 30 minutes. The bus sets down and leaves from outside the airport entrance. There is also a direct Citylink service to Glasgow, which takes around one hour.

By train/tram: Edinburgh Airport does not have a train station, but you can travel to Edinburgh Waverley or Haymarket stations in the city centre and transfer to a tram, which will take you to the airport in around 30 minutes.
