Glasgow Airport Departures Information

Glasgow Airport is the main airport for domestic and international flights from Glasgow and should not be confused with the smaller Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PRI).

There are two terminals at Glasgow, but you can easily walk from one terminal to the other via the covered walkway and check-in for both buildings is on the ground floor.

T1 is the main terminal and handles most short-haul and domestic flights, with airlines like Cityjet, Aer Lingus and EasyJet, as well as long-haul operators like Virgin Atlantic, KLM and Emirates. T2 handles budget flights by Thomas Cook Airlines, Jet2.com, Air Transaat and Ryanair.

There are bag-weighing facilities (£1), a wrapping service, left luggage and dry-cleaning services in the main check-in hall at T1. Glasgow also operates a 'Shop and Collect' service, so you can buy goods before departure and collect when you return, free for flights within the UK and EU.

How early should I arrive at Glasgow Airport?

Check in:

  • At least three hours ahead for international flights.
  • At least two hours ahead for European flights.
  • At least 90 minutes ahead for domestic flights.

Glasgow Airport Arrivals Information

If you're arriving into Glasgow Airport T1, Domestic Arrivals are to the right of the check-in desks, and International Arrivals are to the left. T2 Arrivals are all in the smaller T2 building.

Meeting someone off the plane? Many people use the Starbucks in the Domestic Arrivals area and the café in International Arrivals to meet, as there are no designated meeting points at Glasgow Airport.

Car rental services for Glasgow Airport are located on St Andrew's Drive, next to Car Park 2 (opposite the terminal entrance). There is also a 24-hour Tesco supermarket inside the terminal if you need to get some supplies on your way home.

Glasgow Airport car parking

You can pre-book parking at Glasgow Airport for a guaranteed space and a lower rate. The main parking options are below.

Short Stay

Select Short Stay parking and you'll be just a few minutes walk from the airport, in Car Park 1, or in the Multi Storey Car Park 2, which is just opposite the entrance to the main terminal building.
Car Park 1 is free for the first ten minutes, while Car Park 2 costs £2 for the first ten minutes. Otherwise, on-the-day prices are the same for both car parks, from £3 for up to 20 minutes, to £26 for up to 24 hours.

Long Stay

Leave your car for a week or more in the Long Stay car park, and you'll get the most value for money. This option is still within the airport boundary and takes just five minutes to the terminal, via the courtesy coaches.

Paying on the day, Long Stay is free for the first 20 minutes and thereafter £20 for up to one day, to £82 for up to eight days.

Pick up and drop off at Glasgow Airport

There is a free Drop Off Zone, signposted from the airport's main approach and a few minutes away from the terminal building.
The Pick Up area is in Car Park 2, on the ground floor across from the terminal entrance. You can park in one of 30 special pick up bays for £2 (10 minutes) or £3 (20 minutes).
Airport taxis can be found outside the main entrance; pre-booked company taxis will wait in the Pick Up zone in Car Park 2, opposite the terminal.

How do I get to and from Glasgow Airport?

By car: Glasgow Airport is conveniently situated on the M8 main road between Glasgow and Edinburgh. Exit at Junction 28 if you're coming from Edinburgh and the east, or Junction 29, if you're coming from Glasgow and the west. The satnav postcode for Glasgow Airport is PA3 2SW.

By train: Paisley Gilmour Street is the closest railway station to Glasgow Airport – the McGill's 757 bus runs between the airport and the station and takes 20 minutes, or you can jump in a taxi (five minutes). You can connect to Glasgow Queen Street or Glasgow Central stations via the First 500 bus, and from there change for rail services across Scotland.

By bus: The First 500 bus also goes to Buchanan Street central bus station in Glasgow if you're staying in the city centre or transferring to Edinburgh, or there's an official Glasgow Airport shuttle which leaves every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day. If you're travelling north to the Highlands, look for the Citylink 915 bus which goes to Loch Lomond and the Isle of Skye.
