Great friendly owners and foid

We stayed here because it was right in town on the square. The food was outstanding and owners very friendly. This is an old building but we'll preserved. Just to let you know no elevator. The schnitzel wax the best we gad in Germany while there. Overall you can't go wrong.

Very good - but there are no power sockets or a bakery.

Nice hotel with friendly staff. My room was spacious and charming with WiFi and TV etc. - but there were no power sockets. I could only find one. It was very good that there was a real pillow. Far too often you still get the old square pillows that don't offer any support.
Pre-baked rolls for breakfast aren't that great either. Is there no bakery in Gersfeld?
Other than that, a good choice.

Austrian impressions in the Rhön

How come that you are able to taste Austrian cooking in a neat little village like Gersfeld? We were curious enough to plan our hiking holidays in this lovely region and to book rooms there in this old cosy hotel. The owner, after long years of cooking experience in Austria, has decided to "start a new life" in Germany, and we only can felicitate him for this step. The dishes that he prepares are tasty and well sized for hungry hikers (as well as the large breakfast buffet), and the wine accompanying the meals is thoroughly selected. Rooms partially offer a view on the picturesque market place of Gernsfeld.You will be more lucky with them than we were: we were tortured by temporary street works early in the mornings. This was a critical point! Instead of being offered any prize reduction we had to pay the usual spa tax per day. We would have welcomed at least a free schnaps or beer for consolation, but generosity seems to be out-of-date in days of financial crisis.

We hebben genoten.

Top hotel !
Vriendelijke bediening, heerlijk eten ( met complimenten aan de kok!), ruime, frisse kamer met eigen toilet en douche.
We voelden ons er welkom.
Ook de (wandel)omgeving is er prachtig en heeft voldoende te bieden.
We gaan zekers nog een keer terug komen.

Gastvrijheid in de Rhöhn

Een gastvrije herberg midden in het gezellige plaatsje Gersfeld in de Rhön, die wordt gerund door een sympathiek Nederlands stel. Er is een eigen gratis parkeerplaats bij de accommodatie en er is een gezellig terras. De kamer was keurig schoon en goed ingericht. Het ontbijt was heerlijk met de mogelijkheid om zelf eitjes te bakken. ‘S avonds kon er prima gegeten worden in het restaurant. Tenslotte een goede prijs/kwaliteit verhouding.
