Very unpleasant staff To avoid
1 - No parking available on arrival and the receptionist unable to give a solution
2 - No restaurant but only a buffet that closes at 8pm for a summer Saturday evening
3 - The check out being at 10am, same time as the closing of breakfast, we were late 15 minutes to do the check > the receptionist asked us for an extra! We asked to see the manager but the receptionist refused.
In conclusion: establishment that looks more like a retirement home than a hotel + incompetent and unpleasant receptionist > you understand: to avoid even if the place is rather nice.

Very good, but restaurant needs a rethink
First of all I must say the hotel is a very attractive place with a huge garden where one can stroll around, read a book, pet animals, ride a horse or just be. The rooms are quite large and clean, although some of the curtains need changing, because they are a bit torn. The beds are comfy and quite big.
The wellness is exceptional with Finnish saunas, a steam chamber, salt chamber and two pools inside and one in the garden. One of the inside one has jacuzzi and other features, the other one is for a bit swimming.
The only problematic area is the restaurant. The food offered for the buffet dinner is quite canteen like, so there is not much creativity going around in the kitchen. To make things worse the staff are quite inefficient, they never notice when some of the food is gone, when you tell them it takes an age to replace them. Same happens at breakfast, although the breath variety is a bit better than the dinner ones.
All in all a nice hotel to stay, but they really need to make the kitchen and restaurant sing to make the whole experience perfect.

Sad reality
Then the rest: One of the receptionists is very inappropriate.
For me, the object is something put together, featureless, kitschy. Unfortunately, it no longer has anything to do with the original castle.
Our first night was the City 15 duplex room. The upper level does not have any natural ventilation. Its windows open into the inner attic. The automatic ventilation system did not work. He was terribly out of breath. I barely slept that night. (In addition, the bathroom lighting was constantly flashing, and the toilet paper holder was broken. ) The next day we moved to City 17. Here, only the toilet paper holder had fallen off, and the couch smelled of piss. But at least the window could be opened.
This is what we read about the place: "In an area of 9 hectares, a park with ancient trees, a boating lake, a tennis court, a bicycle and adventure track, stables and riding facilities, a petting zoo and an observation deck, an outdoor and indoor swimming pool, wellness facilities, ... a barbecue terrace, a hunting club, a wine cellar, a stage and a cinema "
On the other hand, the reality is: 3 cattle in a rather bad condition make up the petting zoo, in a very neglected stable.. There is no sign of horses. Apparently, they haven't lived here for a long time... The outdoor pool is a depressing sight, the observation deck is closed. In principle, under renovation. The sandy area called the beach volleyball court is full of weeds. The area around the playground is level. The boat sinking in the lake is a worthy symbol of the place.
We have not received any information about the services included in the package. The welcome drink also had to be "squeezed out". And the majority had no trace. No e-bikes, no animators, no handicrafts, no fairytale cinema.
We did find the Hajdú courtyard where the crafts were held, but it was closed, only a barking puli was there..
In summary: It must have been a classy place once. Unfortunately, it's starting to fall apart. :(
Very not 4*...

The salient features of the hotel are quiet
RoomsStrange, unlivable solutions. Lack of maintenance. Very hard bed mattresses. No body care, sewing kit, laundry bag, shoe polish, as in other 4* hotels. The lighting above the mirror in the bathroom is terrible. (In any case, this is the case throughout the hotel. In the part of the building containing the City rooms, you have to stumble around in the dark even during the day, as the natural lighting is minimal.) Far from 4*.
Activities nearby Kassa, Boldogkőváralja, Vizsoly, Göncruszka, Telkibánya... Many sights and places to go for a walk.
Security The gate is permanently closed and is only opened for phone calls. Given the environment, this is completely understandable.
Food and drinks Dinner is varied and delicious. Everything was warm. Food is not constantly replenished. (The goulash soup was sold out the first night. It stayed that way.) There is no alternative milk available for breakfast, but it was brought immediately upon request.
