Less posh bungalow rooms are a deal!

I have stayed once in a tent and most recently at the colorful bungalows next door to the luxury rooms. I found a great deal on these rooms during the most expensive time to travel in Myanmar. I absolutely adored my stay here! Wonderful breakfast buffet and full use of the yacht club facilities. It was secluded and quiet. No one at the pool during the day and the beach stayed empty until evening. I didn't want to leave this spot! The rooms were spacious and clean with a great ocean view. The staff throughout the entire resort was wonderful. Honest and safe. If you want to have a private, clean beach in Ngwe Saung then this is your place. There are some local restaurants nearby that offer cheaper food and drinks...literally 5 meters away from the parking lot, so you aren't stuck paying resort prices the whole time. I'm so glad I stayed here and will definitely be back.

It was great! It is a luxury tent campground.
It would have been great to have a campfire, maybe even one for each tent, it would have made the experience perfect and there is place for it near the tents.

Great stay

This campground belongs to the Ngwe Saung Yacht Club & Resort Hotel. It's expensive but okay for this area. Agoda had a good offer.
The use of the hotel pool was free and the breakfast buffet is absolutely great. The staff is very friendly and is always available for assistance.
We arrived by bus from Yangon and covered the 10 minute ride to the hotel by local motorbike - taxi for 2000 Kyatt per Person. This is a reasonable price and we ended up calling Tom Tom and his buddies quite often to take us to the village and back in the evening.
It's also possible to cover the distance as a nice walk on the beach in roughly two hours ; )
The tents have room service but ours didn't come every day, thus only four stars. The tents have power sockets and light.
The showers and toilets are in good condition but water pressure could sometimes have been better.

Bad choice for budget travellers (camping)

We felt forced to stay in the adjacent camping area that this hotel posseses beacuse over Xmas we found no availability anywhere else.
On the positive side: the good pool area and a great buffet breakfast (services provided at the 5 star hotel building also for the budget conscious dwellers of the camping.Same service. No differences with the hotel guests). The shower and toilets at the camping area were enough (no queues) and fairly clean. Cold water only, though.
On the negative side: the tents are in a very bad shape, specially considering that they charge ca 45 USD/night (yes, in a camping. In Myanmar... ). Ours had broken zips fixed with cello tape, which obviously was no barrier at all for mosquitoes. The hotel is very far away from the Ngwe Saung town (is the furthest of the resorts, in fact), which is specially inconvenient for budget travellers as you are fully dependent on moto taxis. Also, their bike/motorbike rental prices are obscene, as they charge per hour what you would pay for the whole day to any dealer in town.
In a nutshell: this 5 star is obviously a bad choice for budget travellers. It´s an oxymoron in the first place to combine both categories of accommodation...
If you encounter the same problem as us (lack on rooms available in major online booking websites) just take the risk and head for Ngwe Saung, speak to a local, and they will help you out to find a decent place to stay for a reasonable price. Ngwe Saung has many more options than you will be able to see online... and for much less ;) -Hope this gets published...
