A comfortable little rural hotel, with great food, wine and beer!

I have stayed here more than once, and it is always enjoyable. The food and drink is great, and there is a good atmosphere in the bar. I know they have many regular customers who stay again.
The surrounding area has many attractions within hiking distance, including of course Las Medulas and Castillo Cornatel.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

They should explicitly announce that the pool CANNOT be used in the morning. I booked this accommodation exclusively for this amenity, and it turns out they open it at 4 PM, so that on the
day of check-out you leave empty-handed. They say it was listed in the accommodation rules and that it was for "maintenance": it DOES NOT SAY ANYWHERE in the rules that it is not available until 4 in the afternoon. What daily maintenance does a pool need that prevents it from opening at noon, only for it to be full of insects and dirt later? I didn't even swim because of how gross it was. Furthermore, the facilities left a lot to be desired; the rooms are old and dilapidated and need a renovation. The elevator hadn't worked for years, in our room even the bathroom shelves were falling apart, there is no air conditioning. Not to mention the mattress, a real torture. Even the Wi-Fi didn't work. For this price there are much more interesting options in El Bierzo, so we will not return. And I hope that the rest of the guests who see this place act in the same way.

Highly recommended.

It is a quiet place to rest and recharge batteries among nature. There are better things in the rooms but if you are looking to rest and take a dip in the pool, it is really good. The breakfast is fantastic because they offer a good quantity and also with products made home by them.

Treatment that was personable and above and beyond.

Marisol is an absolute gem of a person. I had injured my ankle on the first day of the Camino de Santiago and couldn´t find lodgings near to where I was. I called Cornatel Medulas and was told that they had a room. I let her know that my pace was slow and I would arrive around 8pm. During my walk Marisol called to see how I was making along and giving me encouragment to make the last 300 meters to the hotel.
I stayed two nights and had a wonderful time there. The treatment I recieved was above and beyond. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was good. The interior dining area was fantastic as was the outdoor patio.
I will be returning there in the future.

Lack of courtesy

Having walked 40 km without eating, we asked if they could serve us even a snack at the door. The one who runs the Hotel Rural Cornatel told us, "I don't skip my schedules for anything or anyone"; to which I replied, "I haven't asked you to skip the schedule." Apparently, the chivalry at the Hotel Rural Cornatel does not match that of Cornatel Castle...
